www.BirdStuff.1000markets.com

I just opened my new feather jewelry shop! My shop features awesome handmade feather earrings, necklaces, and hair clips. I just opened, so check back frequently for more designs!

FEATHERS: My premium feathers are from cruelty free sources. All of my parrot feathers are from friends who own beautiful macaws and smaller parrots. These friends hand collect the feathers after they have been naturally molted, and pass them along to me.

HAIR CLIPS My hair clips are attached to a piece of recycled leather and can be mounted onto a small easy to open and close hair clip, small or large barrette, or a clear plastic comb. Most of my earrings can be made into a small hair clip, and cost 3/4 the price as a pair of earrings! If you would like a matching set of earrings/hair clip, but the clip is not listed, just send me an email and we can work it out!

EARRINGS You will love my awesome earrings! Most of my earrings are between 1.5-2.5 inches long, which is a very conservative length for feather earrings. They will sit nicely above your shoulder, and will provide wonderful color to your outfit. You will receive tons of compliments. I also have some longer earrings that hang just below your shoulder, you'll have to keep an eye out for them because I don't make them very often.

NECKLACES My simple necklaces look beautiful with any outfit. You can wear them to a wedding, a night out, or just out shopping, they are perfect for all occasions! I make my pendants in two different ways. Feathers are either attached to a thin piece of wood that has been painted black, or they are attached to a piece of cut leather. If you see a design of feathers on one medium, but you would prefer it on the other chances are I can create it for you. Necklaces are hung on a 18' piece of elastic cord. I really like the elastic, it is easy to put on and take off, and it doesn't tangle easily. If you do not like the cord, it will be easy to switch out for your favorite chain.

PILLOW BOX All of my small items (not the large feather combs) will arrive wrapped in a handmade pillow box. These boxes are made with thick recycled paper, and have been cut and assembled by me!!

Humboldt County Fair winner...

I entered a few items in this year's Humboldt County Fair. I didn't expect to win anything but I was very pleased when I found out my Fox ipod touch/classic/iphone case won SECOND PLACE!!! Yay!!! I also entered a pair of earrings into the Fine Arts Category, and they also took second place. I am super excited. I can not wait to tell every single person I know!! I am also selling my items in the Fair's County Boutique. If you live in Humboldt County, you should check it out:o)

The Craft Zoo

I was featured on The Craft Zoo

Last year I took my little sister Brittany to Portland. While browsing through every major mall in the city, we came across some great necklaces. I just fell in love, but I couldn't buy a necklace for myself when Brit wanted one just as badly. So, when I got back to California I did a small search for the artist and sure enough found his etsy shop.

This is my cute little necklace, front and back. Mark Poulin also make silver critters, which are way to cute. His packaging is absolutely amazing. You will love everything you buy from him.

I tried to make a light box yesterday. It does not seem to be helping with my feather photos. Any ideas?

Ipod covers

My little critters are on the move. Over 1/4 of my online sales are making their way to Australia! To celebrate I have decided to give Bixbe a chance and offer a few of my cases at a discounted rate.

If you live in the Humboldt area, my little guys will also be sold at the Humboldt County Fair's Country Boutique in August.

Craft Fair Blues

I have preparing for my Redding Craft fair for over 5 weeks. I was super excited and figured that I would sell out of cases in just two day. Unfortunately, I think I sold just ONE CASE and lost over $100.00 on the event. There were a ton of vendors, but they had us set up on the back field so the traffic on the busy street couldn't see us. Also, the only advertising they had was a banner on a truck written in yellow writing. *sigh*
Moving on to more exciting things... it is MONDAY, which means it is Kate's give away day! This week she is giving away wonderful soaps made with natural materials by a real chemist!
One day I will figure out how to format the pictures in this blog... sorry guys.

Kate has done it again...

It is Monday morning, which means wake up and grab your computer because Kate's posted this weeks giveaway!!! You will have to check out her blog and the newest giveaway from Owl Say. This stay at home mom creates cute passport covers, luggage tags, and even clutches and a very affordable price.

My craft fair is next week. I am working on the final details. I ordered a cool personalized banner from vistaprint, and I am making one out of felt to hang on the outside of my tent. This is actually more timing consuming than you would think.
I have close to 100 ipod covers and who knows how many earrings all ready for the fair (I am guessing around 75 pairs). I have finally started adding a few items to my Upcycledearrings shop, including earrings as well as loose feathers. I was going to wait until next monday, but things seem to be selling well.

My step-mom is going to be joining me at the fair on Sunday. She will be brining my Dad along with all the amazing crafts that she does: fingerless gloves, scarves, doilies, earrings, and hand crocheted beaded barbie doll dresses. Unfortunately I do not have a photo of one of her dolls but they are truly amazing. (I found a similar one on etsy)

In other news... I am sewing away preparing for my craft show on May 1 and 2. I have a lot of new ipod cover designs including DOMO and beautiful flowers. I am spending about 8 hours a day making cases to keep up with my regular etsy sales and to build a bit of inventory. Unfortunately, this is about 4 cases a day.
I have also started making feather earrings. It is a lot of fun, and I tend to make more earrings each day than my ipod cases. I finally wore a pair out in town today and pretty much received a compliment from every girl who saw me!
